MINNEAPOLIS — The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Minnesota Chapter’s Challenge Walk MS: Twin Cities 2008 — a three-day, 50-mile walk to help end MS — takes place Friday, Sept. 12, to Sunday, Sept. 14, in the Twin Cities.

Last year nearly 300 people participated in the event, raising $700,000 to help support programs and services for the estimated 9,000 people living with MS in Minnesota and western Wisconsin and fund research to find a cure.

Participants in the seventh annual event take off Friday, Sept. 12, from the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis and finish Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Capitol in St. Paul. Rest stops with snacks, beverages and first aid are located every three miles. Walkers are provided with meals, evening entertainment, support vans, intersection safety and event T-shirts. At the overnight sites, walkers enjoy indoor or outdoor camping.

A $60 registration fee and $1,500 minimum pledge are required to participate. To register or learn more, visit www.MSsociety.org/ChallengeWalkMS or call 1-800-582-5296.

About Walk MS events
The National MS Society believes that moving is not just something you can or can’t do, but rather is who you are. This is why we sponsor events like Walk MS — to raise funds for research, as well as comprehensive programs and services for people with MS — moving closer to a world free of MS. Challenge Walk MS: Twin Cities is one of two Minnesota Chapter Walk MS events. The Christopher & Banks Walk 2008 presented by Anchor Bank takes place Sunday, May 4 in 17 cities throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
